In the real world, distributed applications are used by tens, hundreds or even thousands of remote end-users. This end-user load directly impacts application performance across the network, and the network's performance itself. Shunra VE includes two highly intuitive applications – VE Predictor and VE Profiler – which directly integrate with the industry's leading load testing tools, including HP's (Mercury) LoadRunner and Borland's (Segue) SilkPerformer. These applications automate the process of assessing application performance under remote end-user load and network conditions, so that you can determine compliance with SLOs.

VE Predictor

VE Predictor automatically predicts the end-user experience at remote locations for specific network conditions, making it easy for you to determine if new, modified or existing applications will meet service level objectives at any or all of your remote locations. Through its easy-to-use wizard, VE Predictor automatically takes you step-by-step through the process of creating your test scenario. VE Predictor then runs business transactions over the selected network conditions and measures performance against predefined service levels.

Once the test has completed, VE Predictor classifies and grades each business transaction and delivers a report card on application performance, availability and consistency at each remote location based on the time-of-day, network topology and conditions, and end-user utilization and behavior. These reports clearly indicate which network topologies and locations fall outside of acceptable levels and highlight all non-compliant transactions and conditions – enabling you to quickly determine if your applications are ready for deployment.

VE Profiler

VE Profiler delivers automated application stress testing under any combinationVE Profiler of network conditions. With VE Profiler you don't even have to know which network conditions to test your application against. Through its easy-to-use wizard, VE Profiler automatically takes you step-by-step through the process of creating a test scenario that can include any combination of network conditions. VE Profiler then generates the range of network impairments selected, such as latency, bandwidth, packet loss and utilization, andVE Profiler then runs the application against these network impairments to determine if and when the application will meet SLOs.

VE Profiler's graphically intuitive reports immediately illustrate the specific network conditions and capacity needed to achieve SLOs, as well as the network and end-user load thresholds that the application can tolerate while still providing an acceptable end-user experience.
