Shunra VE SMB Edition

Shunra VE SMB Edition (formerly Shunra\Cloud) is a network simulator software product that’s designed specifically for small-to-medium sized businesses.

With Shunra VE SMB Edition you can:

  • Simulate network conditions at remote sites
  • Expose production-related network problems during pre-deployment testing
  • Determine network capacity needs before purchase or rollout

Simulate a Point-to-Point WAN

Designed for the needs of small-to-medium sized businesses, Shunra VE SMB Edition is a software solution that simulates a point-to-point network link in your local lab or test bed. This simulation enables you to test, compare and predict the performance of your applications over a WAN link under a wide variety of conditions – including latency, packet loss, jitter, and bandwidth constraints up to 10 Mbps.

Shunra VE SMB Edition is easy to deploy and use, requiring no technology implementation ramp-up time, learning curve or maintenance. Tests are fully customizable and can be automated and easily repeated, enabling you to perform "what if" scenarios and accurately predict your end-user’s experience at the desktop, without the complexity or risk of testing over the production WAN.

Wide Variety of Simulation Options for Total Flexibility

Shunra VE SMB Edition provides multiple ways to simulate your network link, giving you total flexibility to create any network scenario you need.

Using Shunra’s Network Catcher feature, you can capture and import real-life latency and packet loss values directly from the production WAN into your test environment. Shunra VE SMB Edition then replays these recordings in sequential or random order, or multiplies/divides them by a factor of 0-200%, to test application performance and scalability under real-life production conditions.

Production network capture and replay:

Fully customizable mode: For complete control over the testing process, Shunra VE SMB Edition allows you to fully customize the latency and packet loss parameters of any simulated Shunra VE SMB Edition - Latency diaglog box WAN link.

Pre-defined statistical latency and packet loss models: With Shunra VE SMB Edition, you can create statistical models of latency and packet loss to simulate any WAN behavior, including worst-case scenarios. This capability is ideal for helping you determine product and network specifications and limitations.

Router and bandwidth simulation: In addition to simulating simple latency, Shunra VE SMB Edition can also simulate more complex router behaviors to accurately replicate the effects of bandwidth limitations and queue management algorithms.

Shunra VE SMB Edition supports the following parameters:

Bandwidth

  • Symmetric or asymmetric links (upload vs. download speeds)
  • Any bandwidth from 2.4 Kbps to 10 Mbps
  • Physical layer protocol overhead

Queue management

  • Queue memory limits
  • Byte mode and packet mode
  • Tail Drop or Random Early Detection

Easy-to-Read Reports and Graphs

Shunra VE SMB Edition - Throughput To help you analyze and drill down to the root causes of application performance degradation, Shunra VE SMB Edition provides a wide variety of reports and graphs that include packet lists, total throughput per direction, and throughput per IP.
