Shunra offers several modules to enhance the functionality and flexibility of PerformanceSuite. In the past, we have offered modules as individual components, but due to customer feedback and our goal of delivering more Application Performance Engineering value, we are integrating individual add-ons into logical modules that will help you achieve even faster confidence in the performance of your applications.

Network Modeling

Shunra's Network Modeling module enables highly flexible design and management of the network model, end user locations and impairments that will be used in the test environment. This module includes the products previously known as:

• VE Modeler offers an intuitive Visio interface that provides the ability to create any network topology and run any test scenario. The drag-and-drop GUI allows you to create a visual network model that includes all of your network components such as clouds, routers, endpoints, remote offices and end users. The Modeler enables precise definition of the network impairments affecting users at any of the locations defined in the network model, so you have confidence that your application will behave in the test lab exactly how it would for your distributed end users. Network parameters are easily edited to create current, future, worst case or what-if network scenarios.
• VE Endpoints provide the ability to scale a network simulation model up to several remote locations without the need for additional hardware ports and infrastructure. Each Endpoint is associated with an IP filter representing a unique network profile, such as a remote office.
• Advanced Networking gives users the ability to model complex network topologies and simulate advanced network technologies like QoS, Differentiated Services, MPLS, Broadcast/Multicast, and Virtual LANs. With Advanced Networking, you have greater flexibility within the testing environment and can also easily switch a group of virtual users to any VLAN, so you can test and predict the impact of an office move, for example, on those users.

Analytics

Shunra's PerformanceSuite and the Network Modeling module are designed to enable precise testing scenarios that deliver highly accurate and reliable performance results. Insight into performance results is critical to affecting meaningful and cost-effective application or infrastructure change. Shunra's Analytics module includes the products that have been previously offered individually to enable comprehensive application performance insight, including:

• VE Analyzer provides enhanced performance information on each transaction to enable you to isolate the root cause of performance problems. VE Analyzer includes the following reports:
  
  • Application Efficiency Report that shows the application turns for each transaction and a protocol bounce diagram
  • Bandwidth Bottleneck Report that shows throughput and bandwidth utilization for each transaction
  • Network and Application Error Report that highlights all application-related errors and potential problem areas
  • Infrastructure Breakdown Analysis that shows the duration an application spends on the server, the client and the network
• Transaction Manager enables you to leverage and re-use your existing scripts. The Transaction Manager agent runs on the same platform as your script/load tool generators, and automates the correlation of business transactions with the resulting packets traversing the network.
• Packet Lists automate the time-consuming and costly process of sniffing transaction packet flows and correlating packet data in your application analysis tools. Packet Lists are flexible packet capture buffers that easily incorporate into automated test sessions. They contain transaction protocol captures based on Transaction Manager, and enable captured transactions to be analyzed by VE Analyzer and Clearsight.
• Clearsight enables you to diagnose and resolve application and performance issues in a multi-protocol network environment. ClearSight presents a comprehensive and high-level overview of network traffic. This framework can then be drilled-down into to gain access to detail information, including N-Tier Flow Analysis for multiple protocols and audio/video codes for VoIP and IPTV packet analysis.

HP Analytics

Shunra's HP Analytics module is specifically designed for use with those PerformanceSuite editions that are used within HP Load Runner or HP Performance Center environments. HP Analytics leverages both Shunra's application performance engineering data and that information collected by the HP testing tools in order to provide comprehensive application performance analysis. The HP Analytics module is an integration of the following products previously offered separately:

• VE Profiler helps organizations determine the breaking point of their applications. Since application performance over the network can vary dramatically depending on factors like network topology, geographic distance, bandwidth allocation and utilization, it is necessary to evaluate application network sensitivity. VE Profiler allows you to evaluate that sensitivity by launching tests that include network emulation and load, and then determining the application's breaking point under each. VE Profiler assists you in making accurate network capacity planning decisions, incorporating the real-world perspective into your application performance management efforts, and preparing your applications for the real-world.
• VE Predictor helps you analyze performance levels and predict whether applications will meet service level objectives at remote locations. VE Predictor measures performance in the emulated test environment and automatically analyzes those metrics according to pre-defined service level goals. The results are presented in an easy-to-understand report that clearly indicates which remote locations fall outside of acceptable levels and highlights all non-compliant transactions and conditions. With VE Predictor, you can easily:
  
  • create what-if scenarios to assess the impact of proposed network or IT infrastructure changes
  • understand and compare end-user experience at different remote locations
  • validate performance optimization measures in realistic network environments
  • facilitate rapid troubleshooting of performance issues

vCat Analytics

Licensed to individual users, the vCat Analytics module is powered by the Shunra solution previously called VE Analyzer which provides enhanced performance information on each transaction to enable you to isolate the root cause of performance problems. VE Analyzer includes the following reports:
