As the mobile wave continues to grow, consumers are increasingly looking to mobile apps and sites for their mobile shopping. In fact, over half of connected consumers have at least one performance marketing app on their mobile device, and nearly one-third have price comparison sites. In addition, 55% of in-store shoppers have ended up buying a product from a rival retailer after researching prices online.

One-third of CIOs describe their mobile development team as sluggish, middling or outpaced, according a research study published by Vanson Bourne. Nearly 600 CIOs and IT directors were polled from nine different countries, and on average, they reported that it takes five months to deliver new versions of mobile apps for existing mobile device updates - meaning the typical enterprise cannot keep up with the mobile device vendors who release updates every few months.
