Corporate History
Shunra’s founders formed the company to address the real-world needs of IT-dependent organizations grappling with the complexities of delivering sophisticated applications in highly distributed environments. They set out to fulfill three specific goals:

Leveraging the founders’ collective experience with network computing and the rapid growth of network-enabled IT services, Shunra pioneered Wide Area Networking (WAN) simulation technologies that focused on empirical rather than mathematical modeling. This significant shift provides more accurate baselining and measurement of performance.
Shunra’s early focus on the “network impact” – i.e. the disparity between the performance of applications in local development environments and their performance in geographically dispersed real world environments – uniquely positioned the company to help customers overcome the adverse impact of that disparity on both IT and the business.
